About Learning From Hollywood™

Bobby Brooks, M.A.

Three Decades Designing Learning Experiences.

From corporate learning and higher education to eLearning design and executive-level learning strategy, my career has been centered on creating experiences that help people understand, engage, and apply what they learn.

The experience matters. What it changes matters more.

Shaping what happens on screen can impact what learners understand, remember, and apply long after the experience itself is over.

The Career

A career that led somewhere unexpected.

01 ENTERTAINMENT

My career began in the entertainment industry, where I gained an early appreciation for storytelling, performance, production, and the power of an experience to capture an audience.

02 HIGHER EDUCATION

More than two decades in higher education, including extensive experience as an adjunct professor and facilitator, deepened my understanding of how people learn and engage with ideas.

03 ENTERPRISE LEARNING

Ten years designing eLearning for a Fortune 50 company, along with extensive experience in corporate learning and technology training, brought those perspectives together in a new way. It was here that the foundation for my cinematic approach to eLearning began to take shape.

04 CINEMATIC ELEARNING

Those experiences ultimately led to Learning From Hollywood ™ —an approach that applies principles from neuroscience, psychology, storytelling, and filmmaking to the design of eLearning experiences.

The Question Behind the Work

Why should the learner care?

That question sits at the center of my approach.

The content provides the foundation. Learning From Hollywood™ provides the framework for shaping an experience that makes the content matter to the learner.

The Approach

Learning From Hollywood™

Learning From Hollywood ™ applies neurocinematics—the study of how movies influence attention, emotion, memory, and other cognitive processes—to eLearning design.

I call the resulting approach CinemActive ™ eLearning: bringing Cinematic storytelling and interactive design together to place learners inside a first-person experience—where they think, choose, and engage with the content as the story unfolds.

Think like a Hollywood director. Shape eLearning for impact beyond the screen.
